Alamance County Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture Award
This award will be given once per year, to be presented at the annual county meeting which is usually held in November as called by the Board of Directors.
The award will be given to the individual who represents the best of the guidelines as listed below and who has shown to be an exceptional example of service, promotion, leadership and stewardship of and to agriculture in Alamance County, North Carolina.
Guidelines for selection
- 1. Alamance County Farm Bureau Members and non members are eligible for nomination. Farm Bureau members will receive preferential consideration over other nominees.
- 2. Any Alamance County resident who is actively engaged in agricultural production or agri-business. Active farmers and producers will receive preferential consideration over other nominees.
- 3. Members of local, city, county, or state government that represent Alamance County can be considered.
- 4. Significant work in any particular agricultural commodity, or on the behalf of all agriculture in Alamance County.
- 5. Community Involvement - local boards, little league, volunteer work, etc. will also be considered as part of the nominees overall consideration.
Selection Process
- 1. The award committee will receive nominations from the Alamance County Farm Bureau Board of Directors as well as the general membership of Alamance County Farm Bureau.
- 2. Nominations should be made on or before August 31st for consideration. Nominations should be presented on nomination forms provided by the Board of Directors and/or the award committee.
- 3.The award committee will narrow field of nominees to 2 or 3 finalists. These finalists will be voted on by the Alamance County Farm Bureau Board of Directors at a regular monthly meeting. The Board of Directors vote will determine the winner.
