Do you have a strong interest in agriculture? This project will select two individuals from the districts mentioned below to work alongside mentors in the county Farm Bureau office and potentially with local agriculture businesses. Additionally, you’ll have an opportunity to observe and participate in cutting-edge research as part of a week-long exploration of an NC State University poultry science lab and Bayer facilities in Research Triangle Park. Housing and travel expenses will be provided for this week-long experience. Through this experience, you’ll discover how and why farmers and researchers utilize technology to meet the agricultural needs of growing populations locally and globally. In the second year of your experience, you will work with Farm Bureau’s state organization to develop resources and strategies that will contribute to a statewide State of Ag program that will seek to increase an awareness of agricultural practices, research and career pathways in students, parents and the community at-large.
